Varadero Ibiza joins PortCleaner for its hydrocarbon and oil accumulation zone
This is not a problem they created on their own, but it is one they have decided to take on: out of environmental commitment, they want to be part of the solution.
Why it accumulates right there
Varadero Ibiza sits on the western side of the port, in an area where wind and current concentrate pollution. It is not only from its own activity: it comes from every vessel navigating the area, those moored at its own facilities, and also those at the neighbouring port. The hydrocarbons and oils from all that traffic end up reaching its docks.
Why they joined in
Varadero Ibiza decided to install a PortCleaner system out of environmental commitment: they are not settling for the bare minimum, they want to be an active part of the solution for their port. Removing the hydrocarbons and oils that reach their docks, wherever they come from, is how they have chosen to get involved.
